The calendar reads November 2nd. My student loan arrives in two weeks. My bank account reads 80 kr. In other words, I'm utterly, totally broke. Where did all the money go, one might ask? Well, actually it went to cover my bills. But it feels like they just evaporated, crumbled between my fingers.
For me it's just a feeling. In Germany it is actually happening. Apparently, a large number of 50Â bills have been contaminated with a salt that turns into acid when it comes into contact with sweat. The acid makes the bills literally crumble between people's hands. The police have no clue as to what is happening. All the Germans know, is that someone is after their money.
